Architecture Of Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple
Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple is located in the east fort of Trivandrum which was built with the fascinating fuse of Kerala and Dravidian styles of architecture. Some Vedas have mentioned that the construction of the temple took place in the very beginning of the Kali Yuga around 5000 years ago.
The idol is 18ft tall and can be seen through the three doors which are present at the sanctum, head, and chest through the first door, hands with the second one, and the legs with the third one.
On the other hand, in front of the sanctum there is an Ottakkal Mandapam, a massive platform that holds some designs and carvings which definitely depict something. Similarly, the carving is all over the wooden ceiling.
History Of Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple
According to Srimad Bhagavatam, Balrama and lord Krishna visited the temple and took a bath. The temple also has references in Epics and Puranas like Skanda Purana and Padma Purana.
In addition, Divakar Muni, a Lord Vishnu devotee went to Aanarthadesa and he used to perform his regular Pujas. One day he saw a boy near his ashram, the muni got fascinated and asked the boy to stay with him. The boy agreed to the muni but only at one condition that he will never misbehave or show his anger to him, he will leave him. Muni agreed with the boy, they lived happily for quite a while. Many times Muni ignored the childish behavior and ignored all his mistakes. But one day, muni was doing his puja and the boy took the Salagrama and kept it in his mouth and defiled it. This filled the muni with anger, out of that anger he asked that boy to leave immediately.
While leaving, the boy asked muni, if he wants to meet the boy, he can come to Ananthankaadu. However, muni realized that the boy was none other than Lord Vishnu. When he reached Ananthankaadu, he witnessed the boy merging in the Iluppa tree and the tree falling down and emerging into a huge Vishnu idol.

DRESS CODE:
The entry is forbidden for those who do not follow the official dress code, those who wear trousers or pants aren’t allowed inside the temple. The rule is applicable irrespective of gender. Mundu is the official dress code which comprises of a white dhoti with golden strips at the bottom of the dhoti.
RICHEST TEMPLE:
It was 2011 when the cellars revealed about the treasure. The estimated value of treasure was about $1 trillion, at the time of discovery. This discovery made Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple as the richest temple of the world. The public as well as the government was unaware of this fact.
LAKSHA DEEPAM FESTIVAL:
People of Kerala celebrate this festival every six-year. The actual meaning behind the name of the festival is the devotee light One lakh lamps all over the temple. Held on the day of Maker Sankranti. Above all, the festival remarks to the end of 12 Bhadradeepams, a seven-day ritual held twice in a year.
